Josh Newton

Coach Josh was born in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to California in 1991. Although he was born in Canada, he played all of his youth hockey here in California. Josh has been coaching ice hockey for about 12 years and recently obtained his USA Hockey level 5 coaching certificate. Coach Josh enjoys coaching all ages and skill development is his passion.

Emery Durand
Head Coach Jr. Stingrays

Emery grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Being raised in a family of athletes, his desire for sports developed at a very young age. Throughout his sporting career, he was introduced to a variety of sports such as football, baseball, soccer and golf. While other sports drew his interest, he always knew his real passion was ice hockey. His commitment to hockey strengthened at the age of twelve. At this time, he became involved in AAA hockey becoming a team member of both Team Minnesota and The Rockets.

After hard work and dedication, Emery became one of the best players at his age group and would go on to captain his childhood teams. During his youth, Emery played at a variety of levels and positions. In middle school, he found his niche playing defense. At Eden Prairie High School, he became a two year varsity letter winner in both hockey and football. He also was the two time recipient of the Academic Athlete Award, in the respective sports. Emery has been an active member of the community and youth hockey programs. He coached a Peewee level team for two years during his time on the varsity hockey team.

It is Emery’s goal to develop a foundation for student athletes to have the tools to be a successful hockey player. His years of experience allows him to engage with athletes on and off the ice as a mentor, coach and ally offering valuable insight into the sport. He has many great memories playing and coaching hockey. Emery hopes to create and hardworking environment where his players can reach their full potential.
